13 week checkup...

Went to my monthly checkup Fri morning and my child decided to play an early April Fool's prank on me. The Nurse OR Dr. Edmonson couldn't find a heartbeat!! They sent me to Clear Lake Regional where after an hour of waiting and crying the tech finally was able to find the heartbeat, and we could see all of his/her little hands moving around. I think there was even thumb sucking involved!

12 weeks down! Time for an update!!

So tomorrow begins my 13th week. Today I am 12 weeks. 1st trimester is O-VER! I'm kinda glad and hoping that shortly I won't feel as sick and exhausted. I'm ready to go into the nesting stage so I can clean my house LOL I keep looking for signs of pregnancy other than the morning sickness and the fatigue, but I have no baby bump yet. The only other thing i've noticed is that my hands and feet have been uncomfortably puffy. I've also noticed that even though I take 20MG of Omeprazole daily for GERD, it seems to be helping less. I've been on it for years, and before, my pain and reflux was completely gone, and now i'm noticing some reflux pain and discomfort, even while still taking my daily meds. Also, my mother in law has got me excited. We were talking the other day about how anxious I am to find out the sex, and she mentioned that she found out the sex of Mark's baby brother Jacob at 12 weeks. Everyone i've talked to other than he says they found out around 16-20 weeks. With my little girl, I found out what she was going to be at 16 weeks. My next OB appointment will be the 25th, next Friday. I'm hoping they will be able to tell. I've also heard that it's easier to see with a boy than with a girl, and we (that is, Mark and I) still think i'm having a boy. We have our reasons, such as my morning sickness hasn't been nearly as bad as when I was pregnant with my little girl, my sex drive is almost non existent now, as opposed to when I was pregnant with her, I wanted SOME kinda sex up until we lost her. My sex drive was through the roof the entire time. There are just differences with each pregnancy...it's kinda weird. Also I started showing around 12 weeks with Taryn, but I just think that's because i was a LOT smaller back then.

I also went browsing online and found the most wonderful place locally. It's called The Motherhood Center here in Houston. They are a service/office that offers doulas, post partum doulas, baby nurses, nannies, and lactation consultants. They have a package for every service and every budget and I just love them. I wonder how early is too early to call and talk to someone?? With this baby possibly being my only living child, I think i'm going to need as much help as I can get. Especially since my mom and family live so far away. I'm going to need lots and lots of help. I can just feel it.

So, when did you find out what you were going to have, and when did you start showing (Not just bloating)??

Looking for new mommy friends!

I'm 10 weeks along, as of yesterday, and i'm due April 1 (April Fool's day!!!) and i'm looking for mommy friends. This will be my first living baby after two miscarriages and a stillbirth, so i'm really looking forward to having a healthy labor leading to a healthy baby!

Due Dates

So, my mom finally got over everything and things are fine. She's actaully getting excited about stuff, which is kinda freaking me out.

I had a question about due dates. The first day of my last period was on August 28. Every site that I've visited puts my "due date" at June 4. The nurse at my ob/gyn's office told me May 16. That's a huge f-ing difference. I've having my ultrasound on Monday (11/2) and I guess we'll have a clearer picture then....but at the same point I'm really confused by the discrepency.

Mother Issues

Did anyone receive a negative reaction from someone in their family when you told them that you were pregnant? I was dreading telling my mom because I knew that she wouldn't be happy...it's not part of her "plan for me" to have a baby. I told her on Friday evening, and she said some really nasty and hurtful things to me about it. She hasn't spoken to me since (we usually talk on the phone every morning on my way to work - she lives 2.5 hours away). Has anyone else had an experience like this?

It looks like I will be your new Mod starting in January! I just want to introduce myself.

I'm Sarah. I am 25, and have been married for 4 years. My husband is Josh and he is 24. I am not currently pregnant, and to be honest, I have no idea when the TTC will happen for me. But, I can tell you that when I finally am pregnant, this community will fit me very well. I am already so clucky, and I find great joy in rejoicing with those who are clucky and pregnant.

My husband is not quiet on board with the whole "clucky" thing yet. But, in time, I am sure he will be there.

I just have a question for you. When you announced that you were pregnant to family members, how did they react? I ask this because of the fact that I am disabled. I have Cerebral Palsy and use a walker and sometimes, I use a wheelchair. People in my husband's family have already expressed how they believe that we should not have kids. And, they have told other people in the family how they just don't think I can be pregnant or be a mother. Granted, I know some people won't be happy. How did you respond to people in your family if they weren't happy for you?

I plan to breast feed. I only plan on pumping when necessary (like if my hubby and I need time alone and baby goes to someone's house for the night)
